Hi, readers
Welcome to The YA Section, the Controversial Book Club’s rebrand and upgrade we’ve all been waiting for. But before we jump right back into the posts, we have to take note that not only our name and platform changed. Our authors have changed, our posting schedule has changed, our post variation has changed, and more. So let’s take the time to run these things through our heads as we enter The YA Section.
1. Our Schedule
After three months on Controversial Book Club, we realized that our posting frequency was way too often for both us and our readers. Posting four to five posts a week, we were all burnt out and our readers couldn’t keep up. So we changed our schedule. Now, we will only be posting once, maybe twice, each week to go easier on our authors and give you guys time to actually take in what we publish. This will also make it much easier for us on months with the book club or our short story contests.
(While our post frequency will be much less often than before, all of our old posts from Controversial Book Club have been uploaded onto this site! If you want to continue some of our previous debates or read our older articles, check out our Archive, linked in the navigation bar! Feel free to comment and like any of our past posts and share them with others.)
2. Our Authors
If you were following Controversial Book Club, you should remember that three of our five authors ended up leaving the blog after three months. Now only
and are left along with the previous guest author , who took a step up and joined the team full-time. Now, we have decided that we still have room for two more full-time authors max. So, if you’ve ever wanted to be teen blogger and write about…writing, this is your chance!3. Our Posts
As previously stated in A Fresh New Look, our posts will be going through some changes with this upgrade. With the schedule change, the Daily Controversies have been renamed the Debate of the Week. While this may sound similar to the Verse of the Week, we will unfortunately be removing the Verse of the Week posts due to
leaving the blog (but if you enjoyed reading those, Mel will be continuing them as well as her devotionals on her own blog, which you can find here!).Speaking of post-renaming, our Writing Tips articles will now be called Tips & Tools to broaden the topic. Our devotionals, book club posts, and short story contests will remain the same. One new type of posts we will be incorporating is Reviews & Recommendations, which will basically be book reviews and highlights of books we recommend, primarily young adult literature. Overall, our posting variation hasn’t changed majorly but will be notably different from how we posted on Controversial Book Club.
4. Guest Authors
Since one of our major issues was post deadlines, we’ve decided to recruit at least one guest author every month to vary post structure, introduce new perspectives, and just give you guys a new kind of content. We had guest authors on the previous blog, but now that we’re on Substack, it is a hundred times easier, so we want to focus more highly on it. If you’ve ever wanted to write a Debate of the Week or already enjoy writing devotionals, this is your time to shine!
5. Our Audience
With our blog now more accessible, we want to expand our audience and try to get The YA Section out there. By adding new types of posts like Reviews & Recommendations and some concept post categories, we’re trying to expand our content and broaden our audience to just teen readers in general. So don’t hesitate to share our posts with your friends, cousins, and any teens you think might enjoy our content! (And if you plan on sharing this blog, check out the Leaderboard page linked in our navigation bar, where you can earn rewards for every referral you make!) We want The Young Author Section to be a blog for all the world to see and shine a light on God and young writers like ourselves.
6. Your Ideas
Finally, we want to hear if you guys, our lovely readers, have any ideas for improvement of this blog! Feel free to shoot us a comment with your suggestions or DM one of us! We’d appreciate anything you may have to offer that will benefit this blog and your experience as a reader.
And so, it is now time to make your way into The YA Section. Out with the old blog and in with the new. We are confident that this transition was for the better and will take this blog higher than ever before. If you want to follow along as we make this trek, please consider subscribing to The YA Section so you never miss out on any of our posts, and feel free to share this blog with your friends! We’ll see you in the next post!
Have a blessed day! :)
When you posted my immediate thought was *they're going to stop the blog* I'm so glad you didn't! Best of luck on this new platform
