Good morning, readers!
Today we have an announcement!
Last week I sent out a long, thought-out post with some writing tips. However, despite this, not many people read it, quite possibly because of the length. A while ago, when we switched to the Substack platform we sent out a poll. We asked our readers whether we should continue a section called daily controversies, though they had moved to weekly controversies at that point, or take that part out. The consensus was that we should remove these controversies. I was quite sad about this because that was the only thing I had written for this blog so far. I understood why we decided to follow the popular vote and take it out, and hoped we would get more readers.
The opposite happened.
We got fewer readers, fewer views, and fewer comments. I was sadly disappointed when I sent out my first writer tips post last Monday. Less than half of our subscribers had read that post. Sure I had made it a little long, but not even half of you opened your email to even glance at it. I decided that if you aren’t going to take the time to read the posts what is the point in writing something that I am not passionate about? Even Jack, the main owner of this blog, is having more fun writing on his other blog. I don’t want to forget to write, I don’t want all of you to not have anything to read. To this end, I have decided to open up a new section on here. I’m calling it “The Art.”
The Art is going to be a random section, you won’t know what we’ll be writing about until you read it. It could be about a painting we saw or a painting we painted. A life story, a scene from a book we are writing, a controversy. Absolutely whatever comes into our mind. This is going to be something I’m passionate about, and hopefully, that passion will transfer to you. Also, for this section, we will be taking guest authors. You are free to write whatever you want, I do require that you tell me whatever you are planning on writing about, but I most likely won’t tell you no. If you do want to be a guest writer for this section, please DM me, as I will be heading this section and organizing it, etc. I will continue finishing up planning it out throughout this month and, on December 2nd, we will make it official.
On another note, Because November is the month for NaNoWriMo we decided not to host a writing contest this month. However, starting December 1st, we will be hosting a Writing Contest. Its theme: Winter. We will send out another post with more information on that closer to December. We just wanted to give you a heads up so you can start planning it out, excited to read all of your stories.
Yours Truly,
Ken
The writing challenge sounds interesting enough!
I hope that you will get more and more subscribers as you learn and grow in your writing. We all are!!
