Hello Hello! Ken back in The Art. Over Father’s Day Weekend I decided that because my dad had been asking for one of my paintings, I was going to give him one. However, I had been seeing these half day half night paintings all over the place and had for quite a while wanted to do one. Perfect excuse, right?!
So I thought. It took me a little while sadly enough. First, I had to paint the day versus night sides and then the moon/sun. Then after all that had dried, I had to move on to the top layer. Now, I had hoped that it would actually turn out better, I didn’t love the sun but figured it would be fine with the painting. Before this, while doing my many other paintings, I had kind of figured out I couldn’t paint day well or even at all. Night and sunset/sunrise were my specialties. Anything containing a large amount of yellow was right out. I don’t know why, but I have always disliked yellow and can’t see it in a painting.
Keeping all that in mind, it is no wonder that looking at the final painting was rather disappointing. If I had done it all in night, it would have been much prettier. Well, despite this I decided to see what my dad thought. His reaction was rather sad to see. He said that he much preferred my other paintings, and he would put it up if I wanted but he didn’t love it. I took it back.
I’m going to share it here. I actually love every part of it, except the day part. It probably would’ve been better to do a light blue as the day instead of a desert like day/ orange sky. It doesn’t go, especially not with the night sky right beside it. Although I don’t love the outside of the canvas. I painted it a grayish blue, because in order to do the painting I had had to draw where the middle was… I forgot to use my light pencil that is meant for that, and instead used an actual pencil, the marks of which did not come off well. So I had to paint over that, and the white wasn’t doing a good job. Silly me, thought that the grayish blue would look wonderful with the painting, forgetting that an extra color that didn’t really go wouldn’t actually help it look better. Now, instead of having white or black as the border, either one would have gone stunningly, I have this blueish gray combination.
The Trees, the grass meadow not too bad. The water actually turned out really well, I was really worried about that part. The big problem is the border, and the day background. My mom agrees, she said that if she could just cover up the day part it looks really good.
Now, I’m thinking about what I should do next to get him a painting he would enjoy. I’m thinking of maybe doing one of my galaxy paintings, he liked those ones. Anyways that’s my painting news!
I have a cool bonus today as well though! My siblings all got me a 44,000-piece diamond dotz. It took me 7 weeks. I started in January/late December, but then I got into a small accident and had to stop for about 4 months. I recently started again and after days of sitting down moving the dots, don’t worry I enjoy it, I have gotten it done! And wanted to share it with you today.
Hope you enjoyed!
