G’day, y’all.
Jack here with a quick informative announcement about how hosting guest authors on here is going to work. If you’ve ever wanted to write a post or two of any sort for this blog, you might want to check this out before applying. (I know I said we’d only be posting once or twice a week, but this is the first month so I kind of need to generate traffic, you know?)
So, first off . . .
How does guest authoring work?
Well, here’s basically how it will go:
Step One — Fill out the application form titled Be Our Guest.
Step Two — DM me or
so we can go over what your post will be about and when it will be due.Step Three — Email or DM us the link (Google Docs/Microsoft Word document) so we can format your post correctly and publish it.
That’s it! Simple, right? This basic three-step process for guest authoring is so much easier than how it went on Controversial Book Club. We plan on recruiting at least one guest author every month (if you all apply) to make it easier on us authors and to vary our posting structure and provide something new!
Okay, now that that’s cleared up, let’s discuss . . .
What kind of posts we’re looking for
Now that we’re The YA Section, we’re trying to conform more to our specific blog niche or in our case niches, which are literature/writing, faith/spirituality, and debates regarding those two topics. So, if you’re writing a Debate of the Week, we request that you stick to topics regarding either literature/writing, theology, or the occasional music or common controversies among teens in general. We don’t want to go too off-topic with these debates. And the same applies for our Tips & Tools posts; if you want to write a Tips & Tools article, try to explore something that we haven’t written about on here before but stick to writing, literature, and teen stuff.
So if we think your post doesn’t fit in with our blog, we’ll let you know and either have you rewrite the post or create something new. Please don’t take this as “We don’t like what you wrote,” because we greatly appreciate anything you write for us. I just want you all to know that me and my fellow authors are focusing more on stuff related to what we normally post on this blog.
Okay, what else is there . . . Ah, yes . . .
Who do we accept as guest authors?
Since this blog is mainly targeted for teens, we’ll only be accepting guest authors between the ages of twelve and nineteen (sorry adults!). Also, if Ken, Abby, or I don’t already know you, we’d appreciate it if you shared a little bit about yourself (via DMs most likely) before or after you apply to be a guest author. Something important to note: don’t apply to be a guest writer if you’re not good with deadlines. I’m very tight with due dates so I will be pressuring you to get it done on time most likely (😝).
And that’s all I have for now. I’ll update this post if I have any more to add. If you plan on guest authoring for this blog in the future, make sure to keep this post in mind and subscribe to The YA Section. I’ll see you in my next post!
Have a good day! :)
