Hello Everyone, Ken here, again! So… I totally forgot I was writing the post for this week and totally dropped the ball, so if it seems a little hurried I apologize!
April
As an update for April, not too much happened, we didn’t have any writers leave or join us, our posts were all sent out on time and readily. So yeah, pretty chill month. On a personal note, my big exams for the semester are over, since I’m homeschooled, I still have a few things to finish up, but my college classes are over, so I’m hoping I’ll be able to write more posts and be on a little more often. In fact, if I hadn’t forgotten about this post I would’ve written it yesterday, but because I didn’t have anything else to do at the time I wrote 1000 words in my book!!
Oh yeah! I almost forgot the big thing for April was that we opened up a new section called Spilled Ink, I talked about it a lot in the last YA Brief, but it is a poetry section, since my co-authors really wanted to write poetry as something fun but a little easier than writing a full post, so there we are, if you haven’t checked it out yet make sure to do that.
May
I’m going to start off with a generalization. For most of us Spring is fresh. Most people do have allergies that make life either uncomfortable or downright awful, but we still think of spring as fresh starts, a fresh breath, it varies for everyone, but something along those lines.
Well, we have decided to do another Short Story Writing Contest!!
And, given what I said earlier about Spring, we are going to make this one spring themed! I will go into the rules shortly, however first a couple of things. Given that this post is so late, I haven’t had time to make the submission link yet, so be on the lookout for that as I hope to send it out later this week. The second thing is that we have not come up with a name for our writing contest yet, we thought about it earlier last month and then never talked about it again, so we will figure out the name and get that out as well. I’m going to give a quick summary of some of the rules for this theme, however the post later this week will go into details with the name, the submission link, and the detailed rules.
We are trying a Spring themed Writing Contest. This may seem like a bit of a stretch, and if you guys are having problems with writing a spring themed story, we aren’t going to make it mandatory. The idea is to write something in the springtime of the year, or maybe something to do with new life, a fresh start, a love conquers all odds kind of thing. This is very generic, so we hope you have fun branching out, and we aren’t making the spring theme mandatory, although we’d prefer to stay away from some slightly darker stories. Hopefully the spring theme gives you some ideas for what to do, but in case you didn’t understand the first 5 times I said it, it’s totally optional. Hope you guys have fun with this and we look forward to reading all your short stories.
More details to come later this week so be on the lookout.
Thank you for reading! Until next time! —Ken
