I think that while reading the Bible and praying every day are very important, it's not necessary, at least for the reading part. But I do think you should try to put some time aside for these things every day, and even if it's not in a specific time, you should be praying through out the day.
It's very important to dedicate at least a fraction of your day to reading God's Word and praying to Him. The Bible says to rejoice in the Lord, cast all our cares and anxieties on Him, and to thank Him for what He has done. It only becomes a chore if you make it seem like one. Whenever you pray, remember that you are talking to God Himself and that He can hear and listens intently. Whenever you read the Bible, even if you don't find the chapter you're reading particularly fascinating, keep in mind that it is the living Word of God and that every chapter in the Bible has a message for you straight from God. So even if you think you are way too busy to read the Bible and pray every single day, at least try. God appreciates that.
